1874 Northwich started the season with a comprehensive 3-0 at AFC Blackpool at a sun drenched Jepson Road Ground in Blackpool.
A healthy gate of 352 made up of mainly travelling Northwich fans will have gone home happy after this one sided victory.
Northwich only promoted after last seasons Division 1 champions Formby disbanded, dominated from first to last, the only surprise being that it took them 51 minutes to take the lead. Only good goalkeeping and a goal line clearence kept AFC in the game. Northwich although looking impressive lacked the killer touch in the first half as they probed the home defence without getting the breakthrough they deserved.
AFC's only real chance came from a poor decision by the referee to award them a free kick outside the box. Northwich's keeper pulled off a TV save and the rebound was fired wide. That was the last we would see of any AFC attacking intent until the last few minutes of the game.
Six minutes into the second half the breakthrough arrived, a cross from the left found the AFC backline missing and Beadle headed home.(0-1)
Four minutes later it was two, a cross from the right this time was missed by the home keeper and Stewart had the simple job of scoring.
Game over with 35 minutes left as AFC never looked like scoring.
Ten minutes from the end 1874 put the game to bed with the goal of the game, a throw out from the keeper was just kept in play, a pass to midfield then a pass to Beadle to chip the home keeper. (0-3)
1874 could have had more but it was easy peasy, a late chip from AFC player manager Parker was tipped over but on the day they were well beaten.
