Dodging the showers a cricketing summer Liverpool

April is the cruelest month or so the say goes, for cricket followers it can be the cold month. The forecast was not good so it was of to the cricket, the journey there was cold the heating having packed up in the car. The journey is mainly motorway although you do go through the leafy suburbs of Merseyside. Luckily got to park on the actual cricket ground which was a bonus. Unsurprisingly there was no play at the 11am start, so it was hide under the blanket and keep warm and dry until play started. Encouragingly the umpires made a couple of inspection and finally they decided play could start at 1.45pm. Lancashire lost the toss again and were inserted, 22 days balls were bowled in which Barker being unlucky when bowling Moore with his first ball however he over stepped and a no ball was called then it rained and off they went, and it was back to the car for me.. 15 minutes later they were back before hail drove them off, car again. Third start and Moore was caught at slip 34-1 a few overs later and the hail returned and back to the pavilion the players trooped. Returning again Lancashire added a few more runs before the rain returned and the players took an early tea although nobody in the ground was told this. Back on at 4.05 and until I left at 6pm unbroken period of play. Lancashire managed to crawl to 77 before Horton was given out LBW he was not amused, there was then a period of intense cricket (dull) where 5 runs were scored in half an hour. As the scoring slowed the temperature dropped as well, Lancashire finally made it to 100 and it was time to go missed Prince being caught due to a call of nature, as he trooped from the ground so did I. They lost two more wickets by the time play ended and were 125-5.
